- Fiona has over 35 years’ experience within the health service in a variety of occupational therapy and senior leadership roles. She is an experienced HCPC registered Occupational Therapist with strong clinical, operational and strategic leadership experience. Having worked at a senior clinical leadership level within the NHS, she has a detailed understanding of all clinical governance and competency requirements within hospital and community settings. Within her leadership roles Fiona utilises her knowledge of occupational therapy standards, compliance and governance. She has successfully completed a patient safety incident investigation course which has complemented her vast experience in investigate of serious incidents and complaints regarding clinical care delivery.
- Fiona's career has spanned a diverse range of clinical specialties which include Stroke assessment and rehabilitation, Brain injury, amputation, Neurology, Trauma & Orthopedics, Acute Medicine, General Surgery, Urgent Care and General Practice. Furthermore, Fiona has led and has been involved in the coordination and leadership of multidisciplinary teams including community therapy and nursing services. This experience enables Fiona to provide authoritative insight with a and detailed reports for individuals that have experienced catastrophic injury or major illness. She also has experience in assessing occupational needs for those with mental health presentations.
I have over 3 decades’ experience of working within acute and community healthcare.
I feel privileged to be an occupational therapist and the positive impact this has on the patients I work with. As an occupational therapist I am passionate about prompting independence. I developed a self-management service underpinned by health coaching and patient activation and centered care.
In my clinical leadership role, I provide leadership and clinical oversight to a large team of community-based therapy, nursing and care staff, using patient safety and governance skills, training and evidence to deliver safe quality patient care.
As a qualified Best Interest Assessor, I am proficient in assessing and identifying needs in those that lack capacity and supporting deprivation of liberties assessments.
