Initial Needs Assessment

Investigating the immediate circumstances, medical details and required interventions

DETAILED ANALYSIS, INDEPENDENT RECOMMENDATION

What is an Initial Needs Assessment?

An immediate needs assessment will give everyone involved in a case an impartial, clear outline of the effects of an accident or incident on the claimant. This assessment requires medical knowledge and experience of local treatment, services and required interventions.

For the best possible outcomes, time is of the essence. The sooner all involved parties understand the immediate impact of an accident or incident, the medical issues that have arisen because of it, and the required case management, interventions and adaptations, the sooner everyone can work towards the right outcome.

Our Initial Needs Assessments will:

  • Give you the information needed to fully understand a person's immediate needs
  • Provide an understanding of difficulties with daily living activities
  • Consider potential impacts of ongoing health issues
  • Provide initial recommendations for treatment, services and assistance
  • Recommend immediate care requirements and initial goals

Your expert witness will draw upon their years of applicable experience to outline all of the issues facing the injured party. In one report, you’ll see exactly which challenges the claimant will face, and be able to plan how to address them.

DETAILED ANALYSIS, INDEPENDENT RECOMMENDATION

What does an Initial Needs Assessment involve?

After an at-home assessment, and a full examination of any relevant medical or health issues, an expert witness will provide you with a full explanation of how the claimant’s daily life - at work and in the home - has been affected. You’ll also see how the challenges they face can potentially be overcome with the appropriate interventions.

The assessment you receive will explore all of the relevant information and issues, including (but not limited to):

  • Acknowledgement of current and historic medical details (health issues and injuries).
  • Identification of social, domestic, and occupational circumstances.
  • Documentation of support currently received.
  • Noting of physical limitations caused by injury and impact on daily life.
  • Cognitive and behavioural implications of the injury.
  • Establishing case management and rehabilitation needs, including costs.
  • Determining if specialist assessments - such as neurological, speech, etc. - are required.
  • Recommendations for therapeutic interventions and rehabilitation with associated costs.
  • Identification of equipment, environmental, vehicle, housing, and adaptation needs.
  • Answering any specific questions presented within the letter of instruction.
