Tessa is an accomplished nursing professional and entrepreneur, having led and established a number of health-related businesses including nursing agencies, and a rehabilitation company undertaking Initial Needs Assessments (INA’s) and case management.
As a seasoned expert witness with 35 years of experience producing reports for both claimant and defendant, Tessa brings a rigorous understanding of care, aids and equipment and the legal elements within personal injury rehabilitation. She is adept in assessing client requirements and quantifying the costs of past and future care, particularly for the catastrophically injured. She possesses a specialist knowledge of acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injury, community care, rehabilitation and outreach services and specialist equipment provision.
Tessa has a thorough understanding of nursing practice and decades of experience working with the NHS, social service departments, and other agencies involved in rehabilitation and care services.
She has experience of providing Case Managers to assess on a non-litigious basis under the rehabilitation code. She undertook the Immediate needs assessment and proactive rehabilitation/community reintegration management of both adults and young people following major and catastrophic injury. The role involves setting, implementing, monitoring and evaluating realistic goals to ensure optimal achievement, liaising closely with statutory health and social services, independent services and voluntary organisations to ensure timely provision of therapeutic and medical interventions and other services, facilitating, implementing and managing support for the catastrophically injured to ensure realistic participation and enjoyment in lifestyle activities.
She continues the long-term Case Management of claimants, post settlement. This includes the direct recruitment, training and management of support workers for clients with complex needs to maintain their safety and quality of life.
