Currently work as an Advanced Critical Care Practitioner in a busy 20 bed general intensive care unit. I've been in this role for over 12 years working as part of the medical team, assessing critically unwell patients, formulating plans of care, ordering and interpreting appropriate investigations, undertaking advanced skills such as line insertion, and liaising with the wider multi disciplinary team.
Registered nurse for 35 years working in the NHS and overseas predominantly in coronary care, cardiothoracic and general intensive care environments.

I qualified in 1990 and worked for 18 months at a national referral centre in London for colorectal disorders before deciding to travel.

I then worked in America before moving to the Middle East, then returned back to my home to the Northeast of the UK in 2000. I took on a staff nurse role in a busy regional transplant cardiothoracic unit before becoming a junior sister on that unit. I spent 4 years as a cardiothoracic nurse practitioner working on the wards both pre- and post-op before extending my role further to my current role.
